Design Machine Group Website
The Design Machine Group seeks to understand the present while inventing the future. The group engages faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates from the department of architecture and beyond in an exploration of the overlaps formed by design, buildings, and computation; where computation serves both designers and occupants, where buildings are active participants in work as well as subjects of study, and where design is understood as a creative, cognitive, and information-intense activity. The group's research combines an understanding and mastery of current technology with a strong theoretical foundation in past applications to produce prototypes illustrating future opportunities. The DMG operates as a collaborative research studio, supporting group and individual research projects, sharing ideas, experience, feedback and skills.
